Kids learning on Roatan

Last night we went to a fund raiser. The "Expats." were raising money for the local schools. Here on the island there are 32,000 children of school age, only 8,000 have been attending school. Things have improved, but just in the last year. A new school with six class rooms has been built and there was 600 kids in uniform lined up the first day of school. Only there was a problem only half the school had a roof, the kids didn't care. They have also set up E/learning centers the size of a small bedroom for year round learning. The kids that want to learn sign up for a hour a day and if they are late they miss their turn.

Finally

YES!.... we finally made it to the house in Roatan! We started in boston where we stayed the night then left in the morning. then we flew to miamithen got on another flight to san pedro, Honduras. we made it through customs to find out that we missed our flight to roatan : ( then we found a flight departing at 5:00 to la cebia (which is right next door to Roatan). so we waited and waited and waited for six hours in this tiny airport with only four employees and NO one else. so we took pictures and tossed a hacky sack around. then six hours later we were told that our plane was ready and we got on this plane that was no bigger than our suburban! It was a great flight over looking the coast of honduras when we landed we took a cab to " Grand hotel paris". In the morning we at breakfest and talked with another group of people from New York they explained that they were big travelers and shared some great stories! He also told us that " it isn't about who goes where but who has the best Adventure stories who wins in the end" i thought that was great. Anyway its getting late down here and we all have a huge day in front of us (3 dives)
which should be a blast! We miss everyone already! we will keep up with the blog as much as possible. Goodnight everyone. :]

Last few minutes..

Last night in our house has been a very hectic and emotional one .
Its not so much the house we are going to miss... its the memories in it.
Birthdays, Christmases, Sam, etc.
We have loved every moment that everyone has spent with us here, and wish we could continue with it, but its time for us to move on ( I know i know its taken at least 5 years, but these have been the most memorable 5 years. It was worth staying)
We cant help thinking back to all of the parties/get togethers, wood stacking party ...morgans and then ians surprise bithday parties, THANKSGIVING! Haha
This may sound corny but we would absolutely love it if whoever read this would share a memory they had here with us , you can leave it in a comment !

Time to take off. Thanks for reading ,
Love, the Townsends!
